My name is Rick McKinney and I served on the Hamilton County Council from 1997 to 2020. During my time on the Council, I defended and championed fiscally conservative stewardship over the finances of Hamilton County, Indiana. This effort helped earn Hamilton County Government an “AAA” credit rating — the highest possible.
At the same time, I strongly supported the priorities of spending your taxpayer dollars on Public Safety, Pavement (roads and bridges), and Parks (including the Monon Trail), to preserve and enhance the nationally recognized quality of life within Hamilton County.
I seek to make my decision making as independent and impartial as possible. I do not seek to please other elected officials, but instead look to do what’s best for you, the taxpayer. I believe that focus helps keep Hamilton County a very desirable place in which to live, work, and play.
I have lived in Carmel and Westfield for 34 years and also worked in Fishers for 5 years. Today, I own a small business that allows me to travel extensively throughout the County on a daily basis.
Personally, I have been married for over 38 years to my wife Cheryl and we have three sons: Zachary, Daniel and Sean. I have both a bachelor’s degree and an MBA. Prior to starting my own business, my corporate career consisted of 18 years in financial operations management with INB National Bank and USA Group.
